O caráter social e as perspectivas de adaptação da pequena produção inserida em projetos de concepção técnica: o caso do projeto Jaíba

Abstract

This study aimed to identify what developmental perspectives the Jaíba Project possesses, how ít configures its strategy and how this strategy is linked to the small farmer's profile seated. It is assumed that this project is defined for a particular farmer's profile, whose characteristics are compatible to an agricultural productíon model exacting as to the adequate management of a technology intensive in capital. The chief objective of identifícation of such strategies was that of revealing their influences upon the determination of the rarmer's profile whom would remain there. The research work was carried out between the months ofJuly and August of 1997, in the Jaíba Project, located in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The approach ofthe research problem was qualitative, based on the Data Triangulation method. It was utilized the nonprobabilistic criterion by judgement for determining samples offarmers to be interviewed in the áreas designed to the seating and already implanted. It was applied semi-structured questionnaires for gathering the data in addition to the document analysis and the non-participant observation technique. The analysis ofthe results confirmed the exploratory hypothesis, which presupposes that the technical and economical requirements and the objectives ofthe Jaíba Project are defined and adequate to the small farmers whose performance and profile be enterprising and for those whom are able ofmaking pace with this dynamic and demanding productive system. The producers themselves have not only stressed such conclusion, but also and primarily, the managers and technicians of the project. No strategies, which aim at a gradual adaptation of the small productíon to a productive system intensive in capital, could be identified than the one verifíed at the moment ofthe research.
