Abstract: This study aimed to evaluate the temporal shifts related to forest structure and dynamics in the tree community of an Atlantic Seasonal Forest remnant with a disturbance history (gold mining and habitat loss). The objective was to verify floristic and structural patterns regarding the location of the individuals in the remnant due topographic irregularities. The present dissertation was conceived in three chapters. The first one contains a bibliographic review approaching themes and concepts that were crucial for the development of this document. The second and third ones are scientific articles, focusing on the temporal shifts in the tree community as a whole and temporal shifts in the sub-units within the forest related to the topographic position of the individuals. It were used data from four forest inventories (2003, 2005, 2007, 2015). Each of these inventories were carried out with the measuring of the DBH of 15 permanent plots 20x20, disposed in five transections of three plots each. The analysis was performed for the whole community and for each topographic position (“topo”, “encosta”, “fundo”) separately. The results pointed out a forest in late construction phase of silvigenesis, with decreasing density (stem.ha-1) and increasing basal area (m2.ha-1). The temporal variation in dynamics and structure are consistent with the topographical position of the individuals. However, were not found significant differences regarding floristic composition, diversity and species richness among environment.
