Resumo: The objective of the present study was to evaluate the thermal and luminous environments on the performance of Japanese quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica) in commercial aviaries equipped with lighting systems with compact fluorescent lamps (CFL) and light emitting diode lamps (LED). Two commercial aviaries were evaluated, the first one equipped with CFLs and the second one with LEDs. The illuminance, thermal environment, and productive parameters of Japanese quails in aviaries were analyzed through descriptive statistics, conventional statistics, spatial distribution via geostatistics and development of fuzzy and neuro-fuzzy models. The egg production parameters of Japanese quails were negatively affected by the cold stress condition, and adjustments in the aviary are necessary to allow more adequate thermal conditions to the production of eggs under these experimental conditions. None of the evaluated lighting systems (LED and CFL) presented illuminance homogeneity for the horizontal and vertical studied profiles. Thus, the system equipped with CFL presented higher illuminance values in the productive environment. Therefore, although lighting systems equipped with CFL and LED have fulfilled the need of illuminance necessary for the reproductive stimulation of Japanese quails in production, interventions in the lamps distributions and heights are required to provide illuminance homogeneity for the birds, ensuring better egg production stability.
