Resumo: Wastewater can cause serious damage to the environment, therefore its use, criteria could result in less need for primary capture of water resources, reducing the amount of waste generated, and is considered a strategy for the conservation of this resource, both in quantitative aspects and qualitative terms. This study aimed to verify the effect of dairy wastewater during production of seedlings of passion fruit, using two substrates in order to obtain seedling quality and well nourished, and enjoy this residue dairy. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse in the period from January to April 2010 in the Department of Fruit Science, Federal University of Lavras (UFLA), Lavras-MG. The experimental design was randomized blocks in factorial scheme 5 (concentrations of dairy wastewater – ARL: 0; 25; 50; 75 and 100%) x 2 (substrates: commercial and alternative - soil: cattle manure 3:1), a total of 10 treatments with four replications and five plants per plot. It were evaluated: shoot length (cm), diameter (mm), number of leaves plant-1 , root length (cm), shoot dry weight (g) and root dry weight (g). Satisfactory development of the seedlings of passion fruit occurred when it was applied 100% of dairy wastewater. The alternative substrate that contained organic matter as a manure provided better growth for the passion fruit seedlings.
