Abstract: Squares are important public greenspaces that play a role in structuring and socializing inhabitants of a city. To better understand this importance, the objective was to evaluate the profile of the users and forms of appropriation of the Padre José Square, in the city of Nepomuceno-MG, as a model of small city. A survey was carried out through questionnaires, with objective questions concerning the users’ profile and ways of using the space, as well as feelings triggered after staying in the square for a certain period. The profile of users at Praça Padre José corresponds to women aged 20 to 30 years, mostly white one, with low monthly income. There is a predominance of Catholic religion group people, especially on weekends. The leisure activities available to users on weekends are also relevant for visiting the square. The population also feels happy, calm and grateful when they spend time in that square, demonstrating that the square also fulfills the function of providing well-being to its users.
