|Several conventional methodologies are able to characterize the materials. However, most of these techniques present problems such as the cost of equipment and tests, in addition to causing permanent damage to the specimens. In this context, there are alternatives to these techniques, among which are the non-destructive testing techniques, highlighting the technique of particle image velocimetry (PIV). The PIV technique measures variations in the position of an analysis region on an object from images captured during a loading session. The objective of this research was to analyze the deformations that occurred on the surface of Pinus Oocarpa wood panels, submitted to static bending test, and to compare these values with the dial indicator, a conventional method. It was concluded that it was possible to analyze the deformations that occurred on the surface of the specimens in a precise manner and with results very similar to the dial indicator method.
