Abstract: The objective of this study was to study the relationship of acylsugars with the resistance of tomato genotypes to the pests Helicoverpa armigera and Spodoptera frugiperda. For this purpose, 12 genotypes with different foliar acylsugar contents were used in the analysis. The genotypes with low content were: Paraty F1, Ibiza F1, TOM-684, TOM-694 and Santa Clara; with intermediate content: F1 (BPX-443D-05-06-101 x NC-123S), F1 (BPX- 443D-03-02-113 x NC-946), F1 (BPX-466D-174-01-05-108 x NC-946) and F1 (TOM-688 x TOM-684); and with high content: BPX- 443D-05-06-101, BPX-443D-03-02-113, BPX-466D-174-01-05-108. The analysis were performed in the laboratory, being them: leaf consumption, biomass and caterpillar mortality. The analysis of leaf consumption of genotypes and biomass of caterpillars revelead that treatments containing acylsugars have greater resistance to pests, as well as the analysis of mortality of H. armigera. Only for S. frugiperda mortality there was no significant difference between treatments. This allelochemical can therefore act by preventing feeding and the deleterious effect on the development of H. armigera and S. frugiperda in the third instar of pest development.
