Gestão e sustentabilidade: um estudo sobre as ações e as percepções dos microempreendedores individuais da microrregião de Varginha-MG

Abstract

The present work was performed aiming to describe actions and perceptions of single micro-entrepreneurs. It is relevant due to the socio-economic importance of this new firm-related characterization, and due to the growth projection of its formalization, which depicts numbers and percentages of relevant contribution for the country development. Seeking to understand the management and sustainability patterns, we performed a quantitative descriptive study using an unstructured questionnaire for the survey on a sample of about 391 enterprising of Varginha, State of Minas Gerais, Brazil. We found restrictions on the management pattern of these entrepreneurs. We also found that their priorities, represented by the management actions, are focused on customer momentary satisfaction and on the business financial control. Regarding actions related to sustainability, we found low micro-entrepreneurs involvement with social and environmental issues. Was highlighted the lack of guidelines focused on environmental preservation, and the lack of interest in volunteering. The understanding of that the adoption of actions focused on the environmental preservation may assure best living conditions for the future generations, and the belief of that attitudes related to improvement and human welfare may provide advantages for the company were commonly found. Therefore, relations between schooling and age, and between management and understanding actions of sustainable stamp were found. Besides, was also found the non influence of family income, human development index, and gender on actions and on the understanding of these single micro-entrepreneurs.
