Resumo: The red pitaia (Hylocereus undatus (Haw.) Britton & Rose) of white pulp, exotic fruit of the Cactaceae family, has been gaining consumers, for presenting several antioxidant properties, in addition to a greater space in the markets, which can be justified by the high price paid per kilo of the fruit. However, it needs new propagation techiques. In vitro cultivation is an advantageous form of propagation to obtain a large number of plants, in a short time, free from pests and diseases. Thus, the objective of the present study was to evaluate the influence of different concentrations of BAP (0.0; 0.25; 0.50; 0.75 and 1.0 mg L-1), in modified MS culture medium, the number and length of shoots emitted in seedlings. After 80 days of inoculation, it was observed that the presence of BAP in the culture medium interfered, regardless of the concentrations in the evaluated parameters. At the concentration of 1.0 mg L-1 of BAP, the highest number of shoots was recorded (5.73 shoots), while at the concentration of 0.25 mg L-1 of BAP, the highest value of shoot length was obtained ( 2,5 cm). According to the results, it was concluded that the dosage of 1.0 mg L-1 of BAP would be indicated for in vitro multiplication of pitaia.
