Resumo: The social isolation resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic required adaptations from all sectors of society, including the educational system. The objective of this study is to analyze the perceptions of parents and guardians of private school students regarding remote teaching in the city of Lavras-MG. To this end, a questionnaire was applied to parents and guardians of high school students in private schools in the years 2020 and 2021. The focus was to collect information on the socioeconomic profile of participants, institutions, and students. Through this study, it was possible to identify the difficulties and challenges faced by parents, guardians, students, teachers, and institutions regarding remote teaching and learning during lockdown. The sample consisted of participants from six private institutions in Lavras-MG, the majority being female, aged 37 years or older and most married. It was observed that 50.0% of them had completed higher education or postgraduate studies and had a family income of up to three minimum wages. The biggest difficulties pointed out for remote teaching were lack of time to accompany the children in their studies, lack of socialization of the children, low quality of the education offered and lack of teacher training. About learning, statements diverged; but most believe that the effort of the child and the help of the family were essential factors in this context. Adequate teacher training was also highlighted as a differential. Even so, most claim that learning was hampered by the conditions in which they were carried out. About the families' relationship with the school, it was found that there were not many problems regarding monthly fees. However, it’s clear that the remote teaching imposed during the Covid-19 pandemic provided weak and deficient learning for students, which had its result greatly influenced by student performance.
