Resumo: Academic writing is constituted as a space for negotiation and construction of positions, in which students will resort to authors related to the topic in question and carry out an interlocution with these authors, marking their positions with the cited works. The function of author/writer, therefore, is to assume, in a dialogical perspective, a position of responsibility in relation to the other, which develops in a space permeated by other voices that connect. However, this positional activity does not always happen in academic textual productions, because, due to some linguistic conventions typical of scientific discourse and established forms for academic writing, there is a distancing of the author/writer from the text itself, which, in a way, promotes a position of supposed neutrality. Faced with these problems, the students' textual production results in texts with excessive citations, without an authorial position of judgment, explicit adherence or even rejection of the ideas of the researchers studied. In view of this, this dissertation investigates the construction of manifestations of Engagement in master's dissertation texts in the area of Literature and, for this purpose, it uses a Systemic-Functional approach, specifically the Evaluative System. The following questions guide the research: (a) how does the researcher's voice appear in the dissertation texts, specifically in the Discussion of Data and/or in the Final Considerations? (b) what are the forms of engagement present in the speech of master's students in Humanities in the Discussion of Data and/or Final Considerations section? Thus, the general objective is to analyze how the researcher's voice appears in the dissertation texts, specifically, in the Discussion of Data and/or in the Final Considerations, under the systemic-functional perspective, specifically in the light of the Evaluative system. And the specific ones are: (a) identifying lexicogrammatical elements related to the researcher's positioning; (b) classify these placements in light of the Engagement system. In order to achieve the proposed objectives, the approach method of this research was qualitative, as it focused on a small number of dissertations, and quantitative, since the occurrences of Engagement were accounted for. Five (5) master's dissertations in the field of Applied Linguistics were analyzed, specifically in the Data Discussion and Final Considerations sections, in order to obtain data on how researchers/writers relate to the voices present in the text and how they position themselves in relation to their own production. I consider, based on the results undertaken, that there were more occurrences that demonstrated an attitude, a positioning of the authorial voice in relation to dialogic negotiations, whether in the Data Discussion section or in the Final Considerations section, which demonstrates a responsibility of the authorial voice, with the author obliged to present his voice and articulate it to the concepts exposed in his work.
