Abstract: Ultrasound is a diagnostic tool widely used in veterinary medicine in various specialties. In obstetrics, represents a fundamental tool for diagnosing and monitoring pregnancy. Uses physical principles of propagation and reflection of sound to generate images that enable visualization of internal organs in real time, allowing the completion of accurate diagnosis, it is possible to identify pregnancies only 20 days old in addition to enabling the assessment of fetal viability. The development of technologies such as three-dimensiona ultrasonography expand the diagnostic possibilities in ultrasound pregnancy in bitches. This review discusses the technology and its use in veterinary obstetrics.
