Resumo: | This research aims to assess the effectiveness of two super premium extruded dry foods in controlling and reducing allergic reactions in atopic or hypersensitive dogs compared to the use of a standard dry premium industrial food. Thorough anamnesis and physical evaluations were conducted following the scale of skin lesions and itching, related to allergic characteristics affecting the skin and coat of these dogs. Serological evaluations were also performed, allowing for comparative studies related to inflammatory markers linked to allergic responses, such as inflammatory parameters of immunoglobulins IgA, IgE, and IgM, C-reactive protein, interleukins 6 and 10, and CD40, in addition to the itching and skin lesion scale. For this research, a triple-blind randomized study was employed, involving 27 dogs of various breeds, ages, sexes, and sizes, with a history of food hypersensitivity. The dogs were distributed into three groups, each receiving a different industrial food, aiming to analyze which of these foods aided in improving symptoms of adverse food reactions. The first group received Test 1 (super premium food with hydrolyzed chicken protein), the second group received Test 2 (gluten-free super premium dry food), and the third group received the control food (dry premium food). The objective of this research included both qualitative and quantitative analysis methods to examine the collected data. Additionally, a statistical analysis of the research was conducted based on the obtained results. The findings revealed significant differences in variables such as itching, lesions/dermatitis, IL 6 and FNTα CD 40, C-reactive protein, and IgM. These results confirm that the use of food based on hydrolyzed poultry protein contributes to the reduction and control of allergic reactions in dogs diagnosed with food allergy or hypersensitivity. IgA and IgE did not show significant alterations. This study has contributed to understanding the addressed topic, providing benefits to veterinarians by adding another research piece related to food allergic reactions. However, it emphasizes the need for further investigations to enhance the treatment and control of allergic reactions in dogs. |
