Abstract: This study recognizes the crucial importance of reading and storytelling in child development. These practices not only stimulate language, but also promote children's interaction with written culture, expanding their expressiveness, imagination, creativity and engaging their cognitive and emotional skills. In this context, the work aims to reflect on the practices of literary mediation in reading and storytelling activities, created from children's literature books, with the aim of pointing out the contribution of such actions to the literary formation of children of 3 years. To achieve this objective, a participatory research approach was used, with an emphasis on qualitative aspects, with the application and reading activities and records of the actions developed. This methodology assumes a descriptive proposal for activities, which provides an understanding of situations involving storytelling and literary reading for children in this specific age group. The research is centered on a private school located in a city in Campo das Vertentes, Minas Gerais. To carry out theoretical reflection, the research seeks to base itself on the studies of Martins (2006), on the concept of reading; in Solé's (1998) studies on reading strategies, among other authors who discuss the topic. By closely observing and analyzing the dynamics of reading and storytelling in this educational environment, the impact of these activities on child development is understood, but also effective strategies are identified to encourage engagement and literary formation from a young age. The study points out that when reading practices, thought out and planned in a theoretical approach and with more improved proposals in a child's context, contribute to literary formation in early childhood education. As a requirement of the Postgraduate Program in Education, an experience report was developed as an Educational Product based on the literary training offered in the extension course.
