Fishery is an activity of paramount importance in the worldwide scenario. However, a decrease in fish stocks of certain species has been noted. In this work, the population dynamics of the species pintado, one of the main targets in the catch of freshwater fish from South America, considering five fishing scenarios, was simulated. All the scenarios are based on the regulations of Fishing in the Paraguay River Basin (Mato Grosso) in the years of 1996 to 2013. Scenario (1) takes into account only resolution 009=96 CONSEMA which defines the minimum catch size of 80 cm. However, in scenario (2), resolution 009=1996 CONSEMA is applied as well as resolution 001=2000 CONSEMA and act 9096=2009, both setting the minimum catch size as 85 cm. In scenario (3) are considered the aforementioned resolutions and acts and also act 9794=2012 which in addition to determining a minimum catch size, 90 cm, also determined a maximum length of 102 cm . In the year of 2013, the legislation went through two amendments. Scenario (4) takes into account all acts from 1996 to 2012 and act 9893=2013 that determined a catch size of at least 90 cm and a maximum length of 115 cm. At last, scenario (5), instead of act 9893=2013, it applied act 9895=2013 which defined the minimum catch size of 85 cm. In addition to studying the impacts of the changes in the acts and resolutions in the growth parameters of the pintado over a long time period, the time series of the catch, length of maturation and biomass obtained with the different scenarios were surveyed, in a period where the interventions occurred. The results obtained helped us to understand better the possible consequences of the changes in the acts and resolutions about the stock of the pintado. The current situation (scenario (5)) was beneficial when compared to the situation that takes into account only the 1996 legislation (Scenario (1)).pt_BR
