Control of Meloidogyne javanica and Panama disease with rhizobacteria. Nematropica 42:218-226. The aims of the work were to obtain rhizobacterium isolates from banana plantation of Minas Gerais State, Brazil, and to evaluate the effect of bacteria on mortality and motility of Meloidogyne javanica second stage juveniles (J2), in vitro. In three greenhouse trials it was evaluated the treatment effect of banana plantlets with 45 bacterial isolates on: nematological variables, Panama disease severity and vegetative variables. Six out of 86 isolates provided more than 85% of J2 mortality and three above 80% of immobility. In the greenhouse ten isolates reduced the number of J2 and/or the number of galls and/or severity of the Panama disease and/or increased the dry matter. The isolates were identified as RZ-17 (Paenibacillus lentimorbus-17), RZ-24 (P. lentimorbus- 24), RZ-1 (Bacillus pumilus-1), RZ-3 (B. pumilus-3), RZ-10 (B. pumilus-10), RZ-60 (B. pumilus-60), RZ-69 (B. pumilus-69), RZ-76 (Bacillus pumilus-76), RZ-34 (B. subtilis-34), and RZ-36 (Bacillus sp.-36).pt_BR
