Abstract: The heart rate (HR) is one of the most utilized physiological variations for prescriptions of easy measurement exercises. There are several formulas for the prediction of the Heart rate maximum (HRmax). The article had as an objective the analysis of the behavior of HR during the maximum test comparing the results obtained through prediction formulas of HR utilizing Tanaka -> [208 – (0, 7 x age)]; Karvonen -> [220 – age]; e Jones -> [210 – (0, 65 x age)]; during the maximum test comparing the. To verify which of the formulas is more similar to the real result and which one is recommended for such sample. Im this study 16 individuals were analysed. These were male individuals that were from 16 to 36 years old with average of 24,68 + 5,04. A maximum resistance test was performed on a tread mill. The results slowed that the prediction formulas of HR max did not slow any differences from the result obtained from the maximum effort test. Except for the formula proposed by Jones e cols, the other ones presented a tendency of overestimating the HR max. Jones‘s formula was the one that was the most similar to the results obtained from the test.
