Abstract: | The scientific literature mentions that neotropical birds of the family Psittacidae have some tendencies to natural and artificial changes in its plumage colours. In studies of plumage aberrant of the parrots were categorized six terms: albinism, eritrism, leucism, xantocroism, cyanism and melanism. We present a rare case of erythrism in species of Brazilian native parrot [Psittacara. leucophthalmus (Statius Muller, 1776)]; therefore, there is only a report of this type of aberrant plumage for Amazona aestiva (Linnaeus, 1758) and for an African species of the genus Agapornis, thus highlighting the importance of this record. |
