Abstract: Among the various themes addressed by Thomas Aquinas in his magnum opus, we can highlight his reflection in the Treatise on Man, found in the first part of the Summa Theologica between questions 75 and 102. In this section, Thomas presents his argument on how knowledge is possible for the human being. Our study aims to clarify the different interpretative possibilities of the intellectual knowledge process proposed by Thomas Aquinas and its direct relationship with the habitus of scientia. Starting from the identification of an intellectual potency in the soul, Thomas Aquinas proposes that knowledge is possible insofar as the human being has the capacity to apprehend the first principles, the sensory data obtained through sensations, and the intelligible species. From logical conclusions, the individual develops the habitus of scientia.
