Abstract: This assignment presents the development of a teaching unit which has the theme Astronomy. The strategies used range from dialogued lectures, problem solving, use of scientific texts and videos, model building, research, seminars presentation. All of this is in order to promote the reflective, critical and argumentative student´s participation, considering their previous knowledge, both from their experiences, as those systematized in the school environment. The assessment gets highlighted throughout the process in a formative, emancipatory and regulator character. The approach of Modern and Contemporary Physics, permeating the planning, adds to the all expecting to bring greater contribution to scientific literacy process for students. Following the teaching unit description built with a meaningful learning prospect, we present the content analysis guided by the assumptions of qualitative research in order to identify the potential of the knowledge construction process and its appropriation.
