Abstract: | In order to evaluate the technical viability of the inclusion of sticky Coffee hulls- SCH (DM: 85.72; CP: 10.47; NDF: 29.09% and 2800 kcal of DE/kg) in rations for finishing swine, a total of two experiments were Conducted at the Animal Science of the Federal University of Lavras-MG. In the metabolism assay was conducted in order to determine the digestibility of nutrients of the SCH . A total of 6 barrows (LD x LW), were kept in metabolic cages and distributed into a completely randomizes design. A total feces and urine collection methodology were utilized. The data shown values of 65.65% for Digestibility of Dry Matter (DDM) ; 68.39% for Digestibility of Crude Protein (DCP) and energetic values of 2799kcal/kg of DE and 2684kcal/kg ME. A performance assay were utilized a total of 120 pure breed LW pigs by using , two females and one male by the experimental unit, with initial weight of 53.5 ± 2.4 kg . The pigs were distributed into a completely randomized design. A total of five rations were based on corn and soybean meal with increasing levels of SCH (0, 5, 10, 15 and 20%) in substitution of corn, were utilized. At the final of experimental period (95.0 Kg) the pigs were slaughtered and the estimative of the weight of the empty and no-digestive digestive organs were recorded. The carcass evaluation also was determined by using the Brazilian Method of Carcasses Classification (1973). The performance data shown a linear reduction on the daily weight gain (P<0.01) and in the intake of DE daily (P<0.05), as well as an increasing in feed conversion (P<0.01) as afunction of increase SCH in the finishing pig rations. The data shown any significative differences (P>0.05) among the treatments for the weight organs of the gastrointestinal tract. In relation to carcass evaluation the increasing of SCH in the rations shown a linear reduction (P<0.01) in the carcass yield as well as an improvement of the carcass quality by the reduction in the fat deposition. In conclusion the increasing up to 20% of stick coffee hulls as a substitution of corn in pigs rations in the finishing phase shown lower pigs performance. |
