Abstract: This work aimed to evaluate the effect of container volume, type and dosage of fertilizer in the production of Brazilian pepper (S. terebinthifolia) seedlings. It was tested polyethylene containers of 50 e 150mL and increasing dosages of MAP (monoammonium phosphate) and Osmocote (Controlled release fertilizer), incorporated in the substrate before container filling. It was evaluated the morphological parameters: diameter (D), height (H), shoot dry weight (MSPA), root dry weight (MSR), total dry weight (MST.) and the indexes MSPA/MSR, H/D and Dickson quality index (ID). It was verified that the type of fertilizer, dosage and container volume has a significant effect on the growing of the seedlings. Target seedlings were obtained in polyethylene containers of 50 and 150 mL, using the fertilizer MAP and Osmocote, however, seedlings with higher dimensions were obtained in containers of 150 mL fertilized with Osmocote, which showed to be more efficient for production of seedlings of this species. Heavy dosages resulted in an increase of the morphological index (MSPA/MSR, H/D and ID). Dosages of 0,06 and 0,05 g L-1 of MAP in plastic tubes of 50 e 150 mL, respectively and 3,50 g L-1 of Osmocote polyethylene containers of 50 and 150 mL should be used for the production of Brazilian pepper target seedlings.
