Abstract: The numerous possibilities of use the wood makes this raw material subject of several researches. The natural variability of the wood characteristics requires a representative sampling of all the desired raw material. In search for alternatives that lead to speed in obtaining results, reducing time and costs of analysis, the non-destructive evaluations of wood stand out. In this sense, near-infrared spectroscopy has been highlighted among the non-destructive methods used in the wood characterization. This research aimed to use the near infrared spectroscopy in the prediction of wood chemical and physical characteristics in clones of Corymbia hybrids. Seven clones were used, at 3.75 years old, from a clonal test implanted in the Itamarandiba-MG City. Five trees were sampled per clone. The NIR spectra were obtained at three different points in solid samples and also in milled samples. For the acquisition of the wood spectra a spectrometer with Fourier transform and integration sphere was used. The results obtained for the solid wood indicated the radial face was the one that generated better calibrations to prediction the basic density, presenting a deviation performance ratio (RPD) of 0.76. Regarding the chemical analyzes the holocellulose content presented better results in transverse face, with RPD of 0.73. The calibrations performed for milled wood samples presented better results, presenting higher correlation and RPD for all characteristics compared to those obtained in solid wood.
