Matéria orgânica do solo e o seu papel na manutenção e produtividade dos sistemas agrícolas

Abstract

The soil organic matter plays a key role in the sustainability of agricultural systems, influencing physics and chemical and biological attributes of soil with reflection on stability and productivity of agroecosystems. The cycling of soil organic matter is controlled by deposition rates, renovation and decomposition of residues that occur dynamically. The different soil management in agricultural systems have great influence over their stocks, which may reduce, maintain or increase in relation to native vegetation. The present study aims at presenting an overview regarding the dynamics of soil organic matter and the benefits of it in agricultural systems, and explain the main practices that contribute to the increase of soil organic matter and the sustainability crops.
