Independência ou sorte?: ensaio de história constitucional do Brasil

Abstract

This essay aims at elaborate problems and hypotheses of research on the Brazilian political and juridical independence observed from the perspective of the theory of constituent power and the identity of the constitucional subject. To do so, it provides a brief reconstruction of the Brazilian traditional historiography and the Brazilian constitutional historiography. Next, it seeks to provide an overview of what has been produced in recent years from some important reinterpretations by which the historiography has passed. Finally, it seeks to articulate the developed ideas to formulate problems and hypotheses for later works. Rather than provide answers, the text is concerned, from beginning to end, to sophisticate questions and to raise doubts. Keywords: Independence; Brazilian History; Constituent Project.
