O gênero fantástico na desestabilização da representação burguesa da mulher

Abstract

This article approaches the representation of women in the fantastic genre in a comparative perspective between Murilo Rubião and Augusta Faro. It discusses how bourgeois ideology, based on scientific discourse and reaffirmed by the literary production of our romanticism, builds a kind of sensitivity that determines the meaning of what is feminine in our society and makes it natural. He evaluates how the fantastic can be a means to make this concept relative, since, according to Todorov, it is defined from the effects of uncertainty and hesitation in the face of a supernatural event. Bessière points out that the fantastic promotes a double rupture: that of the order of daily life and that of the order of the supernatural, which allows us to question pre-established standards in the representation and self-representation of women and think about libertarian conceptions for the word feminine.
