Abstract: The theater acts as an instrument of citizen training, having great potential for the dissemination of art and culture. However, today, access to this culture by the public is increasingly rare. The goal of this work is to analyze a mini course, through an experience report, called "A conversation about the theater", carried out by the scholarship holders of the Institutional Program of Teaching Initiation (PIBID) of Biology at the Federal University of Lavras, in the “First Training Conference for Teachers and Professors”. It also wants to discuss the importance of the theater as a mean of cultural and artistic expression, through discussions, illustrations and theatrical presentations. Data analysis was done using a qualitative research method, a methodology that addresses a direct research experience with the environment and a situation that is being studied to assimilate the messages, so that a perception of their meanings occurs. By means of the method of categorization of the faults, three categories were found: "The mini course as a transporter of basic concepts of its system and its comprehension", "Mini course as a dynamic method to approach the subject and was interactive with its participants" and " The mini course as an integral part of historical concepts and their influence in the social environment". The mini course fulfilled the role of approaching theater concepts in an interactive way, seeking information on social and historical characteristics, broadening teachers' perspective on art and, consequently, their view of reality.
