Resumo: This study has the purpose to report and discuss an activity realized with a 9th grade class of a state school in Lavras – MG analysing its contribution for environmental education classes. The activity ocurred through the fourth supervised internship, a discipline offered in the 8th period of biologic science graduation of Universidade Federal de Lavras – MG. From the movie “Wall-e” was sought to discuss with the students the garbage problem and what was their perception of the questions seen in the film and in their daily life. After the discussion the interns used de documentary “The story of stuff” to ilustrate what had been discussed and asked for the students to construct posters with their point of view about the theme discussed in class. To analyse the positions the students presents on their posters was used as method the Qualitative Research, that revealed an simplistic character about environmental education expressed by the students, differing from what they said during the discussions, when they showed a critical positioning about the garbage problem. Furhtermore, it is important to understand that, besides the conservationist and ecologic character that is sought in environmental education, is necessary to reflect about its critical character and to join all the political, economical, social na cultural relationships the humans establish with the environment. In this way, it is fundamental to encourage this view in the students, after all, the education is an important process for the citzens critical and participative formation.
