Abstract: In recent years there has been discussion in the field of education about the use of digital technologies as a potential tool for the teaching and learning process. In this sense, the present qualitative research aimed to analyze the process of signification produced by a group of children in a set of learning trigger situations mediated by digital technologies and other media for the development of algebraic thinking. The specific objectives were to analyze the meanings and meanings produced by the children in the process of interaction in the activity and to analyze how the instruments of pedagogical mediation potentiate the development of algebraic thinking and the practices of digital mathematical literacy. For the theoretical foundation based on the historical-cultural perspective based on Vigotski (2009) aiming at a discussion about mathematical literacy and the insertion of digital technologies and other media in Mathematics Education for the development of algebraic thinking. For the production of the data a didactic unit was elaborated based on the theoretical references used and a field research was carried out with fifth year students of Elementary School in a school of the state education network, located in the South of Minas Gerais. The data were analyzed in light of the Discursive Textual Analysis (Moraes and Galiazzi). The results obtained were two categories that discuss the meanings and meanings produced in the development of student thinking and the mediating role of digital technology and other media in the development of algebraic thinking.
