Abstract: Participatory Guarantee Systems (SPG) are intended to ensure, through the participatory compliance assessment process, the assurance that a product, process or service meets the technical regulations of organic agriculture. Despite being regulated in 2009, few groups of farmers have managed to set up a SPG. The experience of the South of Minas in the constitution of its SPG has attracted the attention of several groups. For this work, documentary analysis and participant observation were used as technical methodological procedures. Its objective was to rescue the process of setting up the Southern Minas Gerais SPG, so that it can serve as a theoretical and practical reference for other groups of farmers and technicians who want to know the process of establishing a Participatory Guarantee System. It was verified that the history of the farmers of the region with Agroecology and organic agriculture and the partnerships were aspects that contributed to the constitution and consolidation of the SPG South of Minas.
