Abstract: The present work presents the report of a class developed in the discipline of Biology Teaching Methodology of the Licentiate course in Biological Sciences of the Federal University of Lavras (UFLA), Minas Gerais. The development of the activity took place from the presentation of the poem titled The Big Bang in Cordel in Fernando da Paixão and the use of images, both for the approach of the theme Arqueobacteria. After the class was held together with the students of the discipline, they were asked to evaluate the activity. This evaluation was analyzed based on the method of content analysis and categorization of speech. From the constructed categories it can be concluded that the use of the cord helped in the presentation of the characteristics of the Archaeobacteria, the images were important for the students to visualize the content to be taught, besides that the cord can allow the recognition and valorization of the cultural brazilian popular.
