| Resumo: | The Brazilian insurance market has seen a substantial increase in revenues in recent times, capturing a growing share of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Minas Gerais is considered the third largest Brazilian state with regard to insurance turnover and the auto sector is one of the main contributory factors to that statistic. Many authors state that the pricing of insurance premiums is based on several factors. Accordingly, studies on the variables involved in calculating auto insurance premiums can contribute significantly to the insurance market. The objective of this study is to utilize methods of spatial statistics for area data, to analyze auto insurance premiums in the municipalities of the South and Southwest mesoregion of Minas Gerais state. The results show that the average insurance premium variable presents a statistically significant spatial dependence in the study region. |
