Mudanças no mundo do trabalho e cidadania na sociedade contemporânea: análise dos discursos de trabalhadores no Sul de Minas Gerais

Abstract

This work studies the meaning of work and how it relates to the exercise of citizenship in the views of workers. A qualitative study was carried out, through discourse analysis with workers in the industrial sector, in a town in the South of Minas Gerais. Labor, in contemporary society, is still based on the right to exercise morality and to be selfsupporting, but does not include social protection of the State. The contemporary worker is subject to flexible contracts, the dictates of productivity and the weakening of social movements. It is seen that salaried work is no longer a key element for the establishment of social ties, or for the exercise of the rights and duties as a citizen.
