Abstract: - The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of different concentrations of indolbutyric acid (AIB) on rooting and development of pseudobulbs of Dendrobium nobile Lindl. It was made the immersion of the cuttings in AIB solution at concentrations of 0, 500, 1,000, 2,000 and 4,000 mg L-1 , for 1 minute. After the treatments, the stakes were placed in polyethylene trays, coir and maintained under intermittent mist. The effect of the treatments was verified using the following observations at 30, 60, 90, 120 and 150 days after the treatment: percentage of dead piles, number of roots, shoots, buds and leaves issued by stake. It was concluded that the stakes of less than 0.4 cm in diameter are unviable on vegetative propagation of D. nobile and that to obtain a fast rooting of cuttings, the most efficient treatment was the AIB 2,000 mg L-1.
