Abstract: The search for alternatives to enable the production of fruit tree seedlings is constant. Nowadays, the preference is to grow seedlings in containers due to the advantages in relation to good root development and time for obtaining seedlings. The study wascarried out with the aim of evaluating the formulation of substrate with hydrogel polymer and the use of indolbutiric acid in rooting of blackberry cv. Brazos. A completely randomized design was used, in a 4x2 factorial arrangement, with four replications and six cuttings per plot, and the factors were constituted by four hydrogel polymer concentrations: 0, 3, 6 and 9 g L-1 ; and two indolbutiric acid concentrations: 0 and 3000 mg L-1 . After ninety days, rooting percentage, number of roots, shoots and leaves, root and shoot length were evaluated. The treatment of cuttings with indolbutiric acid (IBA) did not influence the rooting and the incorporation of 5.6 g L-1 hydrogel polymer to the substrate increased the rooting and the quality of seedling development of blackberry cv. Brazos.
