Abstract: Drying is important to improve the energetic properties of wood for charcoal production, but there are few studies for log drying. This work aimed at evaluating the air drying of Eucalyptus and Corymbia wood, the relationship among density and drying and the energy gain during storage time. Logs were removed from the base, middle and top of the stems to evaluate drying. One disc of 5 cm located in 1.3 m height was removed for determination of density. The logs were stored in a covered area and dried during 94 days. The logs with smaller diameter and higher density showed lower moisture after drying period. The net calorific value increased with storage time.
