Abstract: | This study aims to evaluate the registration system and to characterize the consumer of forest raw material in Ceara. This state is located in northeastern Brazil and it is semiarid predominant region, which comprises 92% of its territory and encompasses 117 municipalities. The forested energy matrix of the state represents an average of 32% of the energy source consumed. The forest legislation in state is governed by State Decree no. 24.221 of September 12, 1996, which includes, among its objectives, the maintenance of the register of producers, traders and consumers of forest products.
