Abstract: Nanotechnology is a term used to describe the manipulation of matter at a nanoscale and has been considered a strategic area, representing the future of product development for the industry. The high surface area of nanomaterials makes them attractive and applicable in different sectors when compared to its volume. In fish farming, for example, nanotechnology can play a fundamental role in animal nutrition. The encapsulation of nutrients essential to fish in polymeric nanostructures can solve issues resulting from substance instability when in contact with water, preventing their loss to the environment and, thus, ensuring that more nutrients are used by the animal. Electrospinning can be used for both the production of nanostructures and substance encapsulation. It is a simple technique, with easy equipment handling and low solution consumption, commonly used to produce polymeric nanofibers.
