In this study 5 performance and 5 metabolism assays were carried out to evaluate the effect of diets with reduced levels of crude protein (CP), calcium (Ca) and available phosphorus (aP), supplemented with phytase and amino acids on the performance, balance and nutrients retention in broiler chickens in different phases. In all trials, the experimental design was completely randommized. In the first trial (from 1 to 7 days) 3 treatments were used with 6 replicates of 30 to 5 birds per experimental unit in the performance and metabolism assay, respectively. The treatments were: T1- diet with 22% CP without phytase (control), formulated with the recommended nutritional levels in the Brazilian tables; T2- diet with 22% CP with phytase and T3- diet with 20% CP with phytase. In the second trial (from 8 to 21 days of age), five treatments with 6 replicates of 30 and 5 birds per experimental unit in the assay of performance and metabolism, respectively, were used. The treatments were: T1- diet with 21% CP without phytase (control); T2- diet with 21% CP with phytase; T3- diet with 20% with phytase; T4- diet with 19% CP with phytase and T5-diet with 18 CP with phytase. In the third trial (from 8 to 35 days) 5 treatments were used with 6 replicates of 25 and 3 birds per experimental units in the performance and metabolism assay, respectively. The treatments were: T1- diet with 20% CP without phytase (control); T2- diet with 20% CP with phytase; T3- diet with 19% CP with phytase; T4- diet with 18% CP with phytase and T5- diet with 17% CP with phytase. In the fourth trial (from 22 to 35 days) 5 treatments with 6 replicates of 25 and 3 birds per experimental unit in the performance and metabolism assay, respectively, were used. The treatments were: T1- diet with 19% CP without phytase (control); T2- diet with 19% CP with phytase; T3- diet with 18% CP with phytase; T4- diet with 17% CP with phytase and T5- diet with 16% CP with phytase. In the fifth trial (from 36 to 42 days) 5 treatments were used with 6 replicates of 25 and 3 birds per experimental unit in the assay of performance and metabolism, respectively. The treatments were: T1- diet with 18% CP without phytase (control); T2- diet with 18% CP with phytase; T3- diet with 17% CP with phytase; T4- diet with 16% CP with phytase and T5- diet with 15% CP with phytase. In all trials the diets with phytase (80g of phytase/ton of diet - Ronozyme (NP-(M) ) were formulated with reduced levels of aP in 0.15 and of Ca in 0.30 porcentual point related to the diet control. In all studied phases, no effect (P>0.05) in the reduction of the level of CP, Ca and aP of the diets on the diet intake, weight gain and feed conversion of the chickens were observed. In the 1 to 7 days phase, there was no difference (P>0.05) between the treatments for the values of corrected apparent metabolizable energy by the balance of nitrogen (AMEn). However, the diet with reduction of CP in 2 porcentual points presented higher coefficient of metabolization in the dry matter (DMMC). There was reduction of N, P and Ca in the excreta when the birds received diets with reduced levels of these nutrients. In the phase from 8 to 21 days, the diets with reduced levels of CP presented higher values of AMEn and DMMC. The excretion of N, Ca and P was lower when the birds received diets with reduced levels of these nutrients. In the 8 to 35 days phase there was no difference (P>0.05) between the treatments for the values of AMEn and DMMC. There was reduction of N, P and Ca in the excretions when the birds received diets with reduced of these nutrients. There was no difference in the carcass, breast and thigh + drumstick yield. However, there was increase in the porcentage of abdominal fat when the birds fed the diet with lower protein level. In the 22 to 35 days phase, the diets with reduced levels of CP presented higher values of AMEn and DMMC. The N, Ca and P excretion was lower when the birds received diets with reduced levels of these nutrients. There was no difference in the carcass, breast and thigh + drumstick yield. However, there was increase in the porcentage of abdominal fat when the birds fed the diet with lower protein level. In the 36 to 42 days phase, there was no difference (P>0.05) between the treatments for the values of AMEn. However, diets with reduction of CP in 2 and 3 porcentual points presented higher DMMC. There was reduction of N, P and Ca in the excreta when the birds received diet with reduced levels of these nutrients. There was no difference in the carcass yield and noble cuts, considering that there was increase in the abdominal fat porcentage when the birds fed the diets with lower protein levels. The ashes porcentage in the tibia of the birds, in all phases evaluated no shown differences between the treatments. It was concluded that the reduction of aP in 0.15 and of Ca in 0.30 porcentual point in all phases of the rearing and the reduction of 2 porcentual points in the CP level, in the phase of 1 to 7 days, and 3 porcentual points in the other phases, with the appropriate supplementation of amino acids and phytase, provides decrease in the excretion of N, Ca and P, without damage the performance, carcass traits and ash porcentage in the tibia of the broilers. Nevertheless, the diets with low protein levels result in increase of the abdominal fat.pt_BR
