Abstract: The social networking softwares have high audience in Brazil, especially Facebook, which in this study is analyzed from different aspects in order to promote educational activities in an educational institution, bringing students, teachers, business and community. Therefore, we present the concepts of social networks and their applications in education. It is then exposed to the methodology used in a discipline with the support of Facebook, contemplating lifting the educational activities, the actors involved, the issues of ethics, privacy and security, in addition to providing integration with other media institution. The suggestions for the implementation and evaluation of a proposed use of social networking in education are also covered in this article.
