Abstract: Nitrogen (N) is a nutrient that has great importance in the development of strawberry. One way of inserting N in the soil is through the use green manure (GM). In this context, the objective of this study was to evaluate the use of the N contained in the shoots and roots of GM for strawberry culture. The experiment was conducted in factorial 2x5x2, 2 AV (sunn hemp and millet), 5 doses of mineral N (0, 200, 400, 600 e 800 mg vaso-1 ) and 2 treatments (shoot marked and unmarked with 15N), with three replicates . The harvest of shoots (S) strawberry occurred at 180 days after transplantation, where the plants were washed, oven dried (65 C), weighed, ground and analyzed for the concentration of 15N and N. The S dry matter production increased due to N rates and showed no differences between the GM. The N recovery contained in the S of sunn hemp decreased and in the S of millet increased due to N rates. The use of N contained in the roots of GM increased due to N rates. The higher N recovery, either S or root, was obtained with sunn hemp even treatment without N fertilization.
