| Abstract: | The objective was to evaluate the potential use of pruning waste of Acacia mangium Willd for particleboard manufacturing. The panels were produced with a percentage of 0, 10, 20, 30 and 40% of the pruning residues, with 8% urea-formaldehyde adhesive, nominal density of 0.70 g/cm³ and a pressing cycle at a pressure of 4.0 Mpa; temperature of 150°C for 8 min. The inclusion of pruning waste of Acacia mangium Willd provided an increase of thickness swelling and a decrease of internal bond of the panels. Only the panels produced with Eucalyptus urophylla, pure or mixed with 10 or 40% pruning waste of Acacia mangium Willd achieved the requirements of EN312 (ENS, 2003), can be used to produce furniture for dry environments. |
