Abstract: This research aimed to determine the elemental chemical composition and the estimate of the lower heating value of wood in different Eucalyptus clones. Two trees of 15 clones planted in a clonal test in the company Votorantim Bioenergia, located in Vazante-MG, were evaluated. The elemental chemical composition and the estimate of the lower heating value of wood clones were determined. The results indicated that the clones 280/75, 16/JC and 299/ 75 have the greatest potential for use as an energy source. The clones 16/JC and 299/75 were the most important, because they showed higher hydrogen and lower nitrogen content, lower C/N ratio and higher estimate of lower heating value (LHV), while the clones 38/JC (47.21%) and 62/JC (47.35%) showed the lowest carbon contents and lower estimates of LHV.
