Abstract: We analyzed the community structure in an Aquatic-Terrestrial Transition Zone (ATTZ) in a perennial marginal lagoon. The dominant life form was the hemicryptophytes, belonging to families Asteraceae, Poaceae and Cyperaceae. This form of life had predominated in rain and drought, but it was also a little further away than the seasons. Despite this, there was little variation in composition, life forms and community structure throughout the seasons, which it is clearly associated with the reduction of flood pulses promoted by the dam. On the other hand, the anthropic actions around the lagoon have been favoring native and/or non-native species. ATTZ long-term monitoring will be important to understand how the resumption of flood pulses could affect the community after the dam removal.
