Abstract: The purpose of the present work is to analyze the speech, in Brazilian Portuguese (BP) of a deaf child of 8 years old and 7 months old with a cochlear implant in order to observe the individual characteristics of his phonological productions, having as reference the acquisition of atypical language (SLOBIN, 2015). It is noteworthy that this child did not contact the Brazilian Sign Language – Libras and initiated the acquisition of Brazilian Portuguese at the age of 2 years. The research is based on Usage-Based Models (BYBEE, 2001). Only one collection was performed with the participant child, which happened with his family involvement to make him more comfortable during the recording. The collection with the participant child relied on the help of the Aquisição Fonológica da Criança (LAMPRECHT, HERNANDORENA, YAVAS, 2001) which contains a frame of words from five images of the following environments: zoo, kitchen, living room, bathroom, and vehicles. The participant child, in his productions, had preferentially by occlusive sounds [p, b, t, d, k] not presenting production of the voiced alveolar retroflex [ɹ]. He also had the sounds of all the oral tonic vowels [a, e, ɛ, i, o, ɔ, u] and the nasal vowels [ , ẽ ĩ ũ] In relation to the acquisition of syllabic patterns, the CVC, CV, and VC patterns are more frequently shown.
