Abstract: The female performance in the job market has been limited by social constructions. From this perspective, the study aimed to understand the challenges faced by women in the area of Information Technology. For this, a qualitative research was carried out with 19 interviews, based on a semi-structured script, proceeding with content analysis. The main adversities reported were: lack of representation and recognition of female opinions, difficulty interacting with colleagues, harassment and prejudice. In addition, an appreciation of the ‘attributes’ considered naturally feminine was identified. The study contributes to the understanding of gender relations that are established in a masculine work environment, as well as the strategies and resistance shown by women to immerse themselves in this context.
