Resumo: With the implementation of the National Literacy Policy (PNA), instituted by Decree nº 9,765 of April 11, 2019, administered by the Ministry of Education throughthe Literacy Secretariat (Sealf), it is understood that it is through collaborativework among families, teachers, schools, educational networks and public authorities that the quality of literacy can be raised and illiteracy can be tackled throughout Brazil. From regulation, actions of the "Conta pra mim" program were instituted, with the availability of a Guide for families and a series of videos, with guidelines and suggestions for strategies of "Family Literacy". Therefore, this text aims to problematize the reading guidelines of the "Family Literacy Guide" available to families, in order to reflect on what program comprises literacy and which conception of reading strategies can be evidenced. The discussions prioritize the instructions directed to "verbal interaction", "dialogued reading" and "storytelling", pointing out conceptual fragility in relation to reading and literacy and disregard of the socioeconomic conditions of the public to which it is intended.
