Resumo: It is an article whose content analytically describes the scientific organization practices of the School of Agriculture of Lavras (ESAL) between the years 1969 and 1975, observing the implications of the context of implementation of Law 5.540 / 1968, which fosters the reform of Brazilian higher education. Methodologically, research of a historiographic nature employs: i) interviews (based on semi-structured questionnaires) with two ESAL professors who were part of the organization at the time; ii) collects books of minutes related to the historical period of the Departmental Council and the Editorial Council, educational administration bodies of the examined institution; iii) images (photographs) that translate and portray the Institution and its modus operandi. In general, it is concluded that ESAL aligned its organizational practices to the dictates of the current educational policy, while undertaking and disseminating a scientific journal and attending a postgraduate model under the scope of teacher training and the relative demands to scientific production, which is, therefore, a possible narrative to understand the history of the Institution and scientific circularity.
