Abstract: The acquisition of reading represents a developmental milestone and social inclusion for all children. Literacy teachers are responsible for stimulating this acquisition. In this sense, we investigated the process of reading acquisition by children. The objective of this research was to analyze the successful experiences of three teachers who graduated from the professional master's degree in Education at a federal institution of higher education who promoted the acquisition of reading by children. This analysis is justified by the possible contributions that the exchange of knowledge can incite for teacher training. Our research had a qualitative approach through Experience Reports of the participating teachers. The teachers were asked to describe a successful experience related to the reading acquisition process. The results were examined in the light of theories of learning, literacy and literacy. It was identified that the practices, in addition to being effective, are provided for in the National Common Curriculum Base (BNCC). It is concluded that the acquisition of reading by children depends on literacy associated with literacy.
