Abstract: The final disposal of sewage sludge is an environmental problem aggravated by population growth. After a stabilization process the residue is called biosolid and may be used in the production of forest seedlings. Current paper evaluates the survival and growth of seedlings of selected progenies of Eremanthus erythropappus grown in different compositions of substrates with biosolid. Seeds were collected in a matrix with five origins (Carrancas, Baependi, Morro do Pilar, Delfim Moreira and Itabirito). Substrates were formulated with increasing percentages of biosolid (0%, 30%, 60%, 90%), decreasing coconut fiber (90%, 60%, 30%, 0%), and a constant percentage of vermiculite (10%). At 60 days after sowing, survival was evaluated and at 120 days the height and diameter of the seedlings were measured. There was no interaction between progenies and substrate formulation. The progenies differed in survival and height, with Carrancas providing the worstresult. In the seedling phase, the selection of progenies may be undertaken. The substrate without biosolid provided seedlings with greater height and diameter. The use of biosolid is not recommended for Eremanthus erythropappus seedlings.
